A customized Range Rover...![]() -- Last edit: 2006-10-25 07:49:13 |

Interestingly, according to the DVLA, this isn't registered at all. The plates are the wrong colour, and when the team get out in episode 1, there's no one left inside the car to drive it away, yet that's exactly what it does. Seems to be quite a leading car role - has turned up in all the episodes so far and is used by most of the leading characters. -- Last edit: 2006-11-03 23:54:46 |

weird ... could it be armored (or armoured, sorry I can't spell that!) |

Well, this is probably just plastic to make it look like an armoured vehicle. Actually it makes it look silly! Real armoured cars are very difficult to spot, as they try to look like the unarmoured versions: http://www.landrover.com/gb/en/Vehicles/New_Range_Rover/Armoured_Sales.htm http://www.firstdefense.com/html/Armoured_Range_Rover_SUV.htm ... or they really want to show that they are armoured: http://mijnposter.nl/thumbs/354/066s.jpeg |

They dont ever refer to it as a Range Rover, just as an SUV. I think most of the customization is tasteless, but the blue lights are kinda cool. |

It looks like someone stuck magnets all over it, and drove it through Tackyville. They probably left it parked at the corner of Tacky street & Pack Rat avenue… -- Last edit: 2006-11-26 05:26:20 |

Hi everybody all Ministry of Defence licence plates are black with white writing as Torchwood is a goverment organisation |
◊ 2008-01-31 21:17 |
Hi danim, that only applies to Ministry of Defence (Army, Navy, Air Force) vehicles. Government vehicles with ordinary civilian registrations (like CF06 FOU, whether fake or no) would normally carry reflective plates. I think these are just for effect; they are meant to add to the Rangie's air of mystery and menace. |

I have contacted the BBC about it and now just waiting for a reply as I am considering converting a scalextric range rover into this -- Last edit: 2008-01-31 23:54:12 |
