My guess is that it reappears in Rugrats in Paris. (2000) -- Last edit: 2013-07-27 09:26:01 |

I've checked Rugrats in Paris (R.I.P ) and these are the only cars I found: |

At the very end of R.I.P. at Chaz and Kira's wedding, you can see a blue Citroen DS parked behind the limo just outside the Wombat Lodge. This is presumably Stu's DS. |

Though they weren't sold in America, I believe Stu's car is based on a 1974 Citroen DS23 Pallas for one reason. An automatic transmission DS was never officially sold in the United States. In the Rugrats episode "Chuckie's a Lefty," which was made circa 1997, it is revealed that Didi (Stu's wife for those who don't know Rugrats) cannot drive a stick shift. In an earlier episode called "Spike Runs Away," Didi is seen driving the blue DS. I like to think that a French diplomat/ambassador was able to bypass U.S. customs laws and emissions regulations due to their diplomatic immunity and brought their personal vehicle into the country. They then decided to sell the vehicle for whatever reason, and Stu was either the first or second owner. Rugrats takes place in Southern California (specifically the San Bernardino area), and all gasoline-powered vehicles 1975 or older are exempt from the annual smog check/emissions test. Since DS production ended in 1975, any DS would be effectively exempt from smog testing. The other reason I think Stu's car is a DS23, is because it is one of the only DS models available with air-conditioning from the factory. Most versions of the DS, even the U.S.-spec models, were not available with A/C. Rugrats takes place in a part of California where it gets extremely hot, and one would assume that since Stu's car is regularly used as a family vehicle, and Tommy rides in it, that it has air-conditioning for Tommy's sake. |
