Lawrence of Arabia had his fatal accident riding on a Brough Superior.The one in the movie here is an o.h.v. Jap vee 2 Cylinder engined Brough of ca 1933. |

I'm afraid it's "made for movie" Sure it resembles Brough, but many details dosen't match. Was it used in the crash scene of T.E.Lawrence? |

He was riding his 8th Brough Superior SS100 motorcycle, nicknamed "George VII" when he thrown over the handlebars and crashed after he swerved to avoid two kids on bicycles near his cottage at Clouds Hill near Wareham in Dorset on the morning of the 13th May 1935, he later died in the hospital on the 19th May 1935. After the accident, one of the neurosurgeons who attended to Lawrence, Dr. Hugh Cairns did a long study on the unnecessarily loss of life by motorcycle riders and this led to the use of crash helmets by both civilian and military motorcycle riders. In reality, the registration of the motorcycle was GW 2275 and before his death, Lawrence had ordered another Brough Superior SS100 nicknamed "George VIII" and the time of his death, the motorcycle was being built. -- Last edit: 2024-05-04 15:53:06 |
