-@ingo: Could you check this one, rather a 1200 L 1,3 due to the black window moldings, MY1974

UK 1200 was called 1200 and 1300 just 1300 in 74 - no mixed titles like 1200 1.3.

Here the 1200L -74 was only distinguished from 1300L by the window rubber in black, available with 1.2, 1.3 or 1.6 (late 1974 also 1.6 on 1200) engine size (and several other models)

Yes, a 1200 L The 1300 wasn't produced any more in 1974. And 1200-typical, as tore-40 has pointed out, is the lack of chrome.

*uncough* Just called 1200 in UK in 74. In Sept 75 we got something called 1200 L (through flow ventilation, 2 speed heater, hrw, reclining seats etc) to replace 1200.

The *cough* applied to the previous "1300"

Well, this one does have the banana vents, and it does not have the black bumpers I'd expect of a 1200 (w/o "L"). Guess we're back to square one.

The chrome bumpers are indeed irritating for the 1973 and 1974-MY, but only for them. Later on, until the import end in 1985, the 1200 got the chromated "railroad track"-bumpers.
Annother slighty confusing detail is, that it's not the 1300-spec bumper here, but the chrome bumper with the rubber profile one, as the 1303 has. Otherwise: such stuff was available for extra charge at VW-dealers.
Oh, irritating detail no 3: there's a chrome badge on the trunklid. Normally no 1200 after 1968 had that.
But it isn't a 1303 for sure, as you can see by the front fenders. It's the basic, not the bulgy 1302/1303-version.

*A lightbulb suddenly sparks into life in Scotland.* I don't understand Beetley things and have only just clicked what these questions are about, so see if this makes sense:
(1) UTE322M - Make: VOLKSWAGEN Model:1300 BEETLE Colour: ORANGE - http://www.autochecknow.co.uk/result.aspx?vrm=UTE%20322M .
(2) UK Oct 72 1300A beetle introduced (series number 112021 and/or 116011), stopped July 73. Then Oct 73 1300 beetle introduced (series 112121) - "as 1200 with 1285cc, chrome bumpers with black inserts, chrome moulding on bonnet with chrome handle instead of black, through flow ventilation, door pull armrests". Aug 74 Front indicators moved from wing top to bumper. Apr 75 "Sun" beetle limited edition (sun roof, sports wheels, hrw, black upholstery; no tabloid connection mentioned). Sept 75 1300 discontinued.
So this is probably a perfectly normal (for UK at least) 1974 1300. And we have another likely question area for the imcdb exam.
