Alan Partridge's latest car, replacing his Lexus IS: /vehicle_28827-Lexus-IS-300-XE10-2001.html Notice that this has an old-style Vauxhall badge stuck on the grille instead of the new logo (seen on the steering wheel) The vehicle details for LT10 EAK are: Date of Liability 01 04 2013 Date of First Registration 31 03 2010 Year of Manufacture 2010 Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1998cc CO2 Emissions 207g/Km Fuel Type PETROL Vehicle Colour GREEN Make VAUXHALL Model INSIGNIA SRI TURBO -- Last edit: 2012-07-04 20:34:01 |

When Alan opens the boot, only the boot lid bit opens rather than the whole rear window section, so I guess this must be the saloon (sedan) rather than the hatchback model (although they look the same). Should these new fastback style cars like the Insignia and the Mondeo (which are available as saloons but look the same as the hatchback models) be listed as hatchback or saloon by default? Which is more common? -- Last edit: 2012-07-04 20:41:14 |

The Saloon versions of both are pretty rare. I default them all to Hatchback. |

I'm not sure about the UK, but some magazine I read recently stated that latest-generation Mondeo saloons are almost non-existant compared to the far more popular hatchbacks. I'm guessing the same goes for the rest of Western Europe and the Insignia as well, IMHO those saloon variants are quite pointless. BTW, I did some maintenance work on one of those 'rare' Mondeo saloons just a couple of days ago. |

Unless you want to bundle someone in the boot |

As an aside, it's not the first Insignia I've seen without it's (proper) front badge. Seems they break quite easily and the part is expensive to replace (you need to buy a whole new grill) so nobody really bothers to replace them (or in this case replace them properly). |

One of the members of the Insignia Drivers Forum actually bought this car and modified it. https://insignia-drivers.uk/threads/21073-Alan-partridge |
