It seems that these didn't change to Leyland in 1970 as we thought, but actually in 1972/73 with the EA being badged Austin Morris in the interim. Leyland badged commercials were built in Bathgate whilst Austin Morris ones were built in Birmingham. The EA changed its name when production moved from Birmingham to Bathgate. CM link from July 1970: http://archive.commercialmotor.com/article/31st-july-1970/39/bmc-marque-discontinued Brochure from summer 1971: Comments there mention the move of production and change of name being in Jan 1973, though Commercial Motor is referring to it in October 1972: Link to "archive.commercialmotor.com" Also, it seems that the first year of Austin Morris ones (from summer 1970 on) had the older type of indicators whilst the later ones had the indicators like on the brochure. |
