My favorite! It also seems to be a Euro-spec car, evident by the long (black) European license plate frame it's clearly wearing. (i.e. it's "Made for Europe") Edit: Countaches were also a common gray import in the United States at the time, before Mercedes' lobby succeeded in making US and European standards different. -- Last edit: 2013-07-06 02:27:22 |

This is a "fresh off the boat" 1985 European QV with its, as already noted, wide Euro licence plate frame still in place and no sidemarkers or federal bumper yet. Probably the car would be illegal to drive outside of filming and that Florida plate must be fake. -- Last edit: 2023-11-26 16:51:29 |

The Florida plate was definitely fake, as were most plates used on hero cars seen on the show. The fact that this one was a grey market import without any of the necessary federalization equipment seems to check out; many Mercedes-Benzes seen on the show were also not street-legal when it came to their lights and bumpers. I'm sure there was some backdoor deal with the transportation department on set to get these cars in their original Euro-spec look. |
