I don't see a Corolla in this picture. The silver sedan is (if I'm not mistaken) a Mitsubishi Colt. |

Actually it's a Lancer/Mirage |

I don't think it was called the Lancer in the states. Dodge had a Lancer in the mid '80s so it wouldn't make sense to have a Mitsu with the same name at the same time. |

the majority of these in N.America were sold as a Dodge/Plymouth colt.Colt was a confusing name because it was used internationally on cars with OTHER names. In the Philippines, Ive seen people selling used 80's Mirages as "Colt Mirage".They also often refer to the Celeste as "colt celeste".The "Box-type Lancer" was not sold in the US and the pictured car was the Colt we got for 1985. The 70's Lancers and Galant wagons were imported as Colts, I think they even used the "Colt Galant" name at times overseas. In 1979, we had 3 Colts: The "Lancer" Colt, Colt Wagons based on the Galant, and the then-new "Mirage" colt.By 1980 the older 2 were gone and it was just the Mirage, aka "Dodge Colt" and "Plymouth Champ". Oh, and the "Colt Celeste"? They just called it the Plymouth Arrow here. I guess they couldnt figure out a way to pass it off as another "Colt". -- Last edit: 2011-09-15 00:10:32 |
