I remember a lot of things about our Trabi. Top-speed test with my father... 61 mph. ![]() But...I see less and less Trabant 601 here. Two-stroke cars and bikes are gonna be done away with. -- Last edit: 2012-04-01 22:49:47 |

It is classic - I respect it, but I still do not like it. I'm not objective at all - it is childhood trauma perhaps -- Last edit: 2012-04-01 22:51:00 |

@Andre Malraux: We loved the Trabi. That moment, when it starts easily in -20 °C. ![]() By the way the Wartburg 353 became extremely rare here. ![]() I only know one here. But that's a perfect one with original painting and no rust! I saw pretty much ones 7-8 years ago. -- Last edit: 2012-04-01 23:21:47 |

It's not good, it's terrible! Except the horrible enviromental load while production and disposal, there was annother problem, for the user:![]() |

The last "quality check" (after 2:40) was marvellous: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BqAs3KOwzLs&feature=relmfu |

Yes, I loved how precise were the maneuvers of technicians to make front lid and doors fit well ![]() In Poland trabbis and wartburgs were quite common to see and offered to the very end of assembling, but now if you're lucky enough to see one, it would be probably one of those with VW engine. 2-strokes ones are gone deadly. |

@Andre Malraux: I have never seen any Wartburg 311 in my life. I have seen some pictures, some 'reviews' written by owners and journalists, but this is all... If my memory serves me right, it has a 1000 cc, 3 cylinder, piston-controlled two-stroke, liquid-cooled engine, which produced 45 hp. (it was a little bit more- 50 hp- in the 353). By the way I suppose the Trabi would have achieved a little bit more top speed, if I hadn't been in it. -- Last edit: 2012-04-02 14:25:35 |

In old article in old car magazine ("Motomagazyn") was written, that duroplast was also used as food by rats, which really loved it... So we can't say there is no any biodegradation. The 601 Universal I find incomparably more interesting verison than sedan (especially in the COMECON context). |
