War diese Fahrgestell-Fahrerhaus-Version des [T3] als 'Transporter' verkauft oder 'Pick-up'? |

The name "Pick Up" was never used in Germany (IIRC neverwhere in Europe, it's an American term). Transporter was/is the trim line (the basic), "Pritsche" means "platform", but only in the meaning of the truck's/van's truck bed. The term "Plattform" is only used for the technical and chassis platform of a car-model, for example, when you talk about VW Golf IV, New Beetle and Audi TT. Or VW Passat I/Dasher and Audi 80/Fox. The term "Pritschenwagen" is nowadays old-fashioned, but indeed mostly used. Surem the term "Pick Up" is used in Germany, too - but never for VW's or any other German made Pick up-Van, only for US and Japan made Pick Up's. To be precise: this T3 above ws named "Großraum-Holzpritsche" ( /vehicle.php?id=406064 ), because of the wider, wooden made truck bed, to separate it from the /vehicle_168425-Volkswagen-Pick-up-Typ-2-T3-1986.html and the /vehicle_466249-Volkswagen-Pick-up-Typ-2-T2-1973.html (which has the fixed name "Doka" in the VW-fan-scene. |
