I want to say it's a 6700, but that's a pretty short body. Maybe a 4500. |

The model year of this Advance-Design bus is somewhere between 1947 and 1953, as there is nothing else than the grille to help us. But it seems somewhat small for being a 4500, as these buses were made on a 161" (4.09 m) wheelbase. Here is one clearly identified to compare, and another one. One can see both have 5 windows + door/driver window. "Ours" has only 3+1. A small hint to think to a smaller chassis: the bumper is the one of the light-duty (3100 - 3600 - 3800) trucks. And this bus seems in fact to be as long as a 3800 truck (137" / 3.48 m wb), which was also used for bus chassis. Here is a 1954 3800 bus, with... 3+1 windows. For the record, 3802 was the Chevrolet internal code for a flat face cowl 3800 chassis used for the buses. Cf. Advance-Design Model Numbers (and the list made by Ddey65 a long time ago ). And 1947-49 light-duty Advance-Design trucks where only badged "Thriftmaster"⇒ 1947 Chevrolet 3800 (or Thriftmaster?) Advance-Design Superior [3802]? |
