Surprised to find this is our only Alpine S1 until I lifted some other lids and discovered we need to do a lot of renaming. There are lots of this body Alpine split between Alpine and Alpine Sports and lots of the 1953+ previous body Alpines also as S1 onwards. Suggest (1) all 1953+ old body cars are renamed Alpine Mk1 onwards and (2) all this body Alpines drop the Sports tag. I know this 1959 S1 was launched as Alpine Sports, and then became Alpine S2-5 without the Sports name, but we've also got Alpine Sports and even Alpine Sports Car used for some S2-5 as well. Too complicated - let's simplify it to agree a system which prevents duplication and non-existent hybrids. Plan B is to use Alpine Sports for this version only and then just Alpine for S2-5 - we do something equivalent for Spitfires with Spitfire 4 title for the "Mk1" and then Spitfire Mk2 onwards - but experience there is it needs constant vigilance to stop errors. -- Last edit: 2011-10-11 03:39:36 |
