Too bad it cannot be listed as just "C" as indicated by the nameplate across the grille! Hah, GM was obviously not the sponsor! I had thought that Get Smart may have been sponsored by Chrysler at the time as the company owned Rootes Group and the Sunbeam brand, thus supplying the Tiger and Sunbeam models for the show, although a youtube video includes the Sponsorship announcement at the beginning, and American Motors was a sponsor at one point. Of course VW was a sponsor by supplying the Karmann-Ghia never seen in an actual episode, just the opening credits, while GM finally did sponsor the the series through Buick division, and providing Max's metallic gold Opel GT. |
