Del Amitri posters in thumb - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WfyuFP7IZl8&feature=related (youtube doesn't have the proper version) and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RnW8dmJ0Fl4&feature=related . Excellent debut LP "The Waking Hours" - which received an infamous typo in an NME headline - but faded into obscurity like so many other brief Scottish flickers. -- Last edit: 2011-07-18 19:56:31 |

Some awesome Scottish bands in obscurity - Gun and The Big Dish are 2 of my all time faves |

Yes we're a rare breed! don't know whether to spread the word or greedily keep them the best music secret in the world. European Rain was the first song that hooked me in - and i had to wait 17 years before i heard that and other Big Dish songs! |

European Rain always made me think of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3NGou1ZPZ0&feature=related as well. Another Scottish gem when I'm in the mood for some pretentiously tormented twaddle was the Bathers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qX3-a82AxWA and Link to "www.youtube.com" . Also Blue Nile http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8GVMnDjFKHw , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YhiQ-a8CkPY&feature=related and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OR6EdDG0y5g (which was also covered brilliantly by Isaac Hayes in a 9 minute epic, but no youtube entry). |
