selective yellow headlights because at that time cars for Algeria were similar to those for France if I'm not wrong... |

It is my understanding that Algeria were once under French rule. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Algeria#French_rule |

Yes, 1973 MY is correct. The colour is strange. It looks like "tiefseegrün", but this was available only in the 1971-MY. Too dark for "sumatragrün" and it's neither the 1974 "moosmetallic". So repainted. Annother evidence for repainting is the -obvious- red interior. A combination of green paintwork with red interior was never available. Algeria was indeed the biggest export-market for the K 70 outside Europe. 1683 K 70 were delivered there by Volkswagen directly (1677 in 1973). The next biggest marekt was Nigeria (1338 cars), then came Japan (755 K 70), then Israel (477), Hongkong (331), Taiwan (266) and the Congo (222). Everywhere else outside Europe were delivered only some handful K70. -- Last edit: 2011-07-07 00:24:06 |

Footnote: black was the only colour, which was available over all years for the K 70 - but it never appeared in the sales brochures. It was only remarked in the spare parts catalogue. The rarest colour, as none K 70 is this colour (original, sure) is known. Just this pic from the Swedish taxi-brochure: http://www.k70.nl/images/k70_taxi/k70taxi_001.jpg And my best friend Mario http://www.teilethimm.de/public/show.php is absolutely sure, that in 1975 he has seen two black K 70-taxis in Hannover (must have been early ones, because since 1971 in Germany taxis had to be painted in ivory, "elfenbein"). The fact, that he was only 4 years old back then, doesn't matter He was already a saddle fast K 70-spotter back then. -- Last edit: 2011-07-06 22:30:21 |
