from all the entered cars to me this looks most like an ERA plus they were the most common entries too http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/43/ERA_R6B_Donington_2007.jpg |

Here is a pic of the start of the race: http://en.espnf1.com/PICTURES/CMS/6700/6745.jpg If you check the grid with starting positions of wikipedia (assumed they are right) the car that looks like the one we are searching is the left of the 5 cars in a row (next to the Talbot). We can see the numbers of the row in front of them showing No. 19 (not very clear), 6, 14 which are starting positions 6, 7, 8. So the car we are looking for is starting position 9. That would be Tony Rolt (No. 29) in an Alfa Romeo 3.45 Litre (according to wikipedia) And that is the car in the pit: https://c2.staticflickr.com/4/3269/4564093291_07d030c20b_z.jpg However to be precise this is an Alfa Romeo Aitken-Special http://www.atlasf1.com/2000/bri/okeefe.html By the way the wikipedia list says No. 14 is ERA E-Type but this seems to be wrong it's more an A or B-Type -- Last edit: 2014-09-24 15:56:26 |

Shoot found another pic from the starting grid which messes up my starting grid from previous post: Link to "i2.cdn.turner.com" This clearly shows that my starter 9 is actually starter 10 beeing Cuth Harrison in an ERA B-type i think. |

Different list for the GPs http://www.silhouet.com/motorsport/archive/f1/nc/1948/1948.html#gb So the car we see here would be the Riley-Era of Cuth Harrison and not an ERA B-type. |

Great source for the ERA cars. http://leonardasf1.narod.ru/F1_Challenge/Cars/ERA.html So Cuth Harrison drove the ERA R8B/C which has been rebodied by then and gave it a non ERA look (Link to "dc734.4shared.com") If he put a Riley engine in or not who knows. So I would leave it with ERA B-type Special |
