Its a Fordson E4 - Interesting 4 X 4 3 Ton 1950's trucks trucks built at Dagenham , Canadian V8 engine , Cab like Commers bought in from BLSP. Link to "www.google.co.uk" Don't know my artillery but I would say this is the light anti aircraft tractor . There were three versions made for British Army , Ambulance ( as Dinky Model ! ) Binned Stores and the LAA tractor . Other thing is Badge says Thames . -- Last edit: 2011-02-16 16:59:46 |

Ref JCB.......... Certainly Fordson E4 light ack ack tractor in first line use 1950's. Guns are 40mm L60 Bofors issued before the electrically powered L60 Bristol Bofors was introduced and possibly the photo shows a TA unit rather than a regular group. The crew of 5 (plus detachment commander & driver.... I think !) mounted the rear of the truck from a door on the near side, close to the co-drivers cab door. Apart from personal kit, the rear of the truck carried a spare barrel, tools and ammuntion. Cross country performance of the E4 as a gun tractor could have been better. |
