Yep, must be. How should that be listed? |

List it as FMC M113 (1960). ... but what is the Battle Flag of the German Third Reich doing ontop of a US tank? |

Apparently APC units in Vietnam had a reputation for being very rough, they scalped dead Vietcong soldiers and decorated their vehicles with Nazi memorabilia, presumably to look more intimidating (though I'm not sure whether or not there any Nazi-sympathisers in the Army during Vietnam). It's a bit like Kilgore broadcasting Wagner (who was also one of Hitler's favourite composers) during the helicopter attack in Apocalypse Now. Of course they must have put these flags up once they got out into the "bush", there's no way their superior officers would have approved, but then it's well known that soldiers in Vietnam could get away with a lot of things and standards sometimes slipped a bit once they were in the bush. When you watch the film it is quite unsettling to see a Nazi flag in the aftermath of the big battle, it adds to the hellishness of the situation. |
