nzcarnerd identified the same one here /vehicle_328403-GMC-Yellow-Coach-1936.html as a 1936 GMC Yellow Coach (all as maker) but I'm not sure of that. Maybe fsbus, maxp, etc.. could help on these. |

As far as my poor english let me know, it seems Yellow Coach was independent brand until 1944. http://www.coachbuilt.com/bui/y/yellow_coach/yellow_coach.htm Link to "en.wikipedia.org" Following the last link, the years range 1924-36 was for models Z, Y, X, U and V. Also the picture it seems doesn't look a 700 Series http://www.flickr.com/photos/hostajohn1/3173012173/ I haven't could find the model for these tw I'm speaking about in previous answer, but they look as pre-war Yellow Coach buses like this and this another one (scroll down 1/3) |

If you read the coachbuilt page in vilero's link you will see that General Motors bought Yellow in the 1920s - hence the reason Yellow Cabs became General Motors Cabs around 1930. From then on all of Yellow's products used GM components. The bus in this picture used a Chevrolet car engine. Later and bigger models used Buick eights and also GM diesels. I am not sure of the correct name of the company at any one time but they were all built under GM ownership. I found the picture which identified the other one - linked above - in a book from the library but I don't have it now. -- Last edit: 2010-10-25 12:08:14 |

Although General Motors purchased a majority stake in 1925, they did not own it outright therefore GM was not part of the name. The company name changed to Yellow Truck & Coach Manufacturing Company. GM purchased the business outright in 1943 merging it into their GM Truck Division to form GM Truck & Coach Division |
