Side strip and "Rally Red 705" confirm 1981 MY. If we trust it's original still or rebuild with origins, of course. |

Probably a 5, since the film was mostly shot in Canada. (The LeCar name was not used in Canada.) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0278504/locations -- Last edit: 2010-09-24 15:34:19 |

However all details match to "LeCar". |

As would be expected on a Canadian-specification 5... /vehicle_76777-Renault-5-1980.html P.S. Made for CDN -- Last edit: 2010-09-24 15:57:21 |

Linked Canadian R5 is older than 1980, rather 1977-1979 (e.g. has old dashboard). Looking on your sample I suppose Canadian R5 was the mix of French and US cars elements, than LeCar twin. This Canadian sample has colour from French chart, no side strips, however LeCar bumpers, seats and sidemarkers. -- Last edit: 2010-09-24 16:16:30 |

To be honest, I didn't think there'd be any difference between US LeCars and Canadian 5s apart from the badge. |
