DDR-plates from early 1990 (when DDR-citizens were allowed to buy private imported Western cars) until the unifications at the 3.October 1990. Very rare The back seems damaged by a crash and cobbled back in the old shape. Obviously one of the many of thousands wrecks, the East Germans were fooled with. Especially after the D-Mark was introduced in the DDR at the 1.July 1990, our used-car-prices were exploded. The worst wrecks for sold for incredible prices to the unaware "Ossis", who had still their -total absurd- used-car-prices in the mind. They were so happy with their expensively bought "Westauto" - but only for a short time. With the unification also the West German TÜV-inspection was introduced there, too. Until late 1992 every DDR-registrated car had to have a plate with the West German systematic - and for that it ad to pass the TÜV-inspection. I still remember the bizarre overflooed junkyards back then, also in the West. During just a few months -my appreciation- over 80% of the cars, running in the DDR before 1990 were thrown away, plus the 1990-imported wrecks, which have failed the TÜV (of broke down before). I've seen little junkyards in little former DDR-villages, on which backyards hundred of cars, 95% COMECON-made, were packed in big piles. |
