Mercedes Benz .This is very similar to the Mercedes Benz documented in " Mécanique Populaire" april 1951 page 46 that then belonged to the Pacific Auto Rentals Inc. of Mr de Noria ,a company that was specialised in movie auto rentals. It may be the same vehicle. It appears a rebodied car , article says on a 1916 chassis , but more likely a later twenties base. |

Perhaps this is the book pilou was talking about Link to "books.google.es" (page 137 in my research) Grille has the same three points star and there only it says (under the pic) "Mercedes-Benz as a Gestapo chase car. It was built during WWI..." In the link pointed by Gag Halfrunt see the comments of nzcarned, pilou and robgeelen2 |

I'm pretty sure it's a model K Mercedes probably built around 1927. It appears to have a Saoutchik body |

This is definitely the car seen in other movies. It would be good to establish its exact provenance. Perhaps we could establish a page somewhere with all of its appearances - also the other 1927(?) M-B with the boattail body seen recently which also appeared in several movies. I think a chassis date of 1916 is believable - it is certainly too narrow for the fenders fitted in the rebuild. |
