m.pfaffeneder ◊ 2011-04-26 17:14	1. Every car magazine/show says that the S-Max/Galaxy is/are one of the best seven seaters you can buy 2. A few years ago, there was a comparison in a car magazine called "Auto Bild". They tested the S-Max 2.5 against the Zafira OPC. Well, the S-Max needed less fuel (10,8 litre) than the Opel (11,4 litre). And I think about 11 litres aren´t bad for a seven seater which goes like hell.
cl82 ◊ 2011-04-26 17:24	Isn't this one made in Belgium? @M.Pfaffeneder: My parents' neighbours had an S-Max(TDi) for a couple of years. The engine grenaded itself after 60.000km or so. Not very impressing...

m.pfaffeneder ◊ 2011-04-26 17:32	@cl82: Do you mean a 1. gen Galaxy TDi? Because the S-Max has got TDCi engines. The Galaxy (1.gen.) had VW-TDi-engines, which weren´t so good. But if you mean a S-Max TDCi, than it´s really an exception, because there aren´t so many problems with them. Only the particulate filter could choke, if you drive short distances.
cl82 ◊ 2011-04-26 17:33	Sorry if I disagree but AFAIK the Zafira turned out to be the more reliable car- notwithstanding it's as dull as the S-Max.

But the thing is people still buy small/medium-sized MPVs like Zafiras and Scenics even when they only have one or two kids, and I really don't understand why (I just assume they have no real taste or ethusiasm for cars or they'd drive something that's less van-like). -- Last edit: 2011-04-26 19:04:14

cl82 ◊ 2011-04-26 19:31	@m.pfaffeneder: Yes, TDCi was the correct name, sorry. I know a couple of people who have or had Mondeos equipped with the same engine, and they had no issues at all. Maybe my parents' neighbours had just bad luck, but still, if an engine packs up after just 60.000km that's an insolence.

The fact, that you cannot move the front seats really backwards, so that you have to sit there as in VW T3-Bus, makes it unbearable for me. Somewhere else here, 130rapid(?) has named it "Italian Gorilla-style", the small space for the driver. For me an immediate reason to throw the car out of the possible choices.
