Impossible to say - given that it's LHD, export would be most obvious, but the data says not. But it is odd for LHD and that it was taxed for only 6 months (instead of the usual 12 from new; the expiry date on 1st of month is a normal DVLA trick to increase revenue) as if something else was planned for it after a temporary use as P867 RVG. RVG is a Norfolk plate so probably a Lotus factory registered car for some short-term business purpose, then sold on. Maybe re-registered with a cherished plate afterwards or the export data is wrong? An unfortunate example to illustrate how DVLA data works, because this case has some strange factors. |

Could have been reg'd for the time it took to film. |

BTW, would a car exported after its tax expires show up on the DVLA as exported? I always wondered that. |

Probably not if there was a time gap between expiry and export - once the liability link expired anything could happen. Many of these markers (export, SORN for off the road notification etc) are recent innovations for the records in the last few years and I doubt if they updated earlier completed records or pursued retrospective loose ends. A car which completed its taxable period today would have to have a fate declared (even if only as SORN which becomes a potentially umbrella fate) to finish its record. It could lurk in a factory compound for a period and then get exported without this subsequent activity being recorded. Slightly different circumstances, but this one was a puzzle to explain - /vehicle.php?id=72110 - and had an interesting reaction. |

Ah thanks. So the tax expired, when the dealer picked it up at the former owner? I've purchased the Vectra on the 10.7.2011 and had to buy an export-insurance. This date I've also remarked on the DVLA-segement with the export marker, I've sent back to Britian later on. It got the German registration on the 21.7.2011. |

As tax is only issued in blocks of 6 or 12 months, I guess the dealer returned the unused portion (2 months) for a refund, especially if he knew a few days ahead of 10-07-11 that you were coming over to buy the car. |

Oh, thanks, I'll ask around as it looks good and there are fellows around, who are keen on 1971-MY, especially in "orangemetallic". |
