Due the headrests not an early version, so around 1980+ |

Why couldn't they destroy a later (and crappier) W210 model instead? |

Perhaps they got a dead W123 from a scrapyard and then found a matching car for driving shots. |

@Kazimann: Being an admirer of the W123 for at least 10 years during which I faced at least a dozen situations where I almost bought one I have to say that I basically agree with you; nevertheless, it has to be said that this particular car here was in poor condition, especially as far as the body and the floor are concerned. |

In 1979 I learned driving a car in a 200D [W123]. The only positive thing about it was that it didn't break down. But it had no suspension, terribly hard seats, an extremely slow engine (even a 2CV was not much slower!), a total lack of personality and style... For me it was one of the worst cars I've ever driven. |

But these indeed unfortable seats (I'm also getting butt-pain, when I sit in a Benz) have one important advantage for a classic-car-freak: the cloth is nearly undestroyable (for example by the sun) and usually still fine after 30 or 40 years. Absolutely uncommon for other brands. For example for VW, Audi and NSU. ![]() ![]() |
