This truck is a 1940 GMC 5 ton conventional cab with added flatbed. The original configuration was as a fifth-wheel tractor with Vacuum-assist brakes.. Original flathead engine was replaced in the past with a mid-50\'s 6 cyl \'302\' GMC engine, 5 speed Clark main trans with 2 speed rear axle... I found truck on parked farm in Gilroy CA with 30-foot flatbed trailer. . I sold this truck to production company in 1990 in operating condition at Redwood City CA. This truck appears in several scenes, including a \'pull-away\' tight shot of the dash gauges from the rear window, expanding to show the construction site of the casino as truck turns to the right of the frame. also shown in background city street scene parked in front of a cafe |

I question that this is a 1940 GMC 5-ton. It looks more like a 1936 something 1-1/2-ton or 2-ton to me. |

Maybe a 1940 GMC with the front end made to look like an older truck. |
