I fly bleifrei, a special version only for the German market in 1985, similar to the Sausss Ente: http://www.entmontage.de/galerie01.htm (scroll down), and even better: http://users.skynet.be/vincent.beyaert/V2004/LIM-entegrun.htm 'Bleifrei' means without lead (added to the gas). |

Yes, Citroen made quite a lot of PR fot the fact, that the 2 CV were one of the first cars, which could use unleaded fuel without any changes at the engine. In reality there were many other cars, which can run without lead-additive, but in that years it was unknown, but -typical German- it was a kind of loud hysteria about unleaded fuel and catalysators.  Same as later on with other things (Diesel or not Diesel, speed limit on the Autobahn, Smog-zones, Abwrackprämie and nowadays the hysteria about the "Umweltzonen", the idiotic idea with the different coloured stickers in the front screen about the CO2-emissions. |
