Does this mean that all Granadas in South Africa had a V8, or that there was a version that had a V8? |

South African Granadas of that era were fitted with either 2.5-litre (1973-1976) or 3-litre (1973-1978) "Essex" V6 engines, which were manufactured at Ford's engine plant in Port Elizabeth. Basil Green Motors produced the "Perana" series which were approved by Ford and sold and serviced through Ford dealers. Lee Iacocca, who was at Ford in the mid-70s, was so impressed with the V8 Granada that he had one built for him personally. |

Perana Granadas had four Rover V8 emblems on the outside: Bonnet, bootlid and fenders. So easy to identify. Only available as XL and Ghia in Coupe (both, "coke bottle" and "straight") and 4-door saloon versions. -- Last edit: 2025-04-05 23:19:30 |
