From Wikipedia: "In the sixties, VAM produced the Rambler American (in 2- and 4-door and wagon versions)" If they used the American name for the Hornet, I don't see why they wouldn't use it for the Hornet's predecessor, which was originally called the American in the US. They probably used the American name on the Hornet to create continuity with the preceding model. |
