It's not, rather american I bet |

I agree it is not a Simca but I think it too small to be an American. It is not much bigger than the Peugeot beside it. Did any other Europeans do an American influenced design like the Vedette? The roofline has a hint of the late 1950s Ford Thunderbird - could it be a German Ford?? -- Last edit: 2009-09-02 11:21:16 |

I thought first a 1961 Borgward, but it is not I looked all cars from the 1958-1961 period = none has such a front bumper, and is 4 door hardtop with such side chrome |

The paint scheme doesn't match any Simca. This car is also somewhat bigger than the Simca Beaulieu travelling behind it. Sure there are more European saloons with American influenced design (Ford Zodiac, Opel Kapitän, Austin Westminster, Fiat 2300, Borgward P100) but nothing that matches has yet come to my mind. Maybe some work of a French coachbuilder? |

You're right but this car looks like to be a 4-door hardtop Looks like an Australian Ford except .... the never imported Australien Fords in Europe |

Not a Simca! ... at 1st glance I thought about a Simca too, but it's not indeed. Grill shape, rear bumpers, colour share... 3 points that not match the Simca. And you can compare with the Beaulieu picture /vehicle_35793-Simca-Vedette-Beaulieu-AB-1958.html |

Or a guess? could it be a specific version of Simca with after market accessories (Robri,GH,etc)??? it's just an idea? |

The paint scheme is similar to a Simca ( http://i79.servimg.com/u/f79/10/09/31/75/simca_26.jpg ) but maybe a different model/trim. |

Would be possibly a Simca Vedette Brazil? Rear end of the roof could match.. no? |

Comparing the Simca in Kegare's link with the main picture I would say the unknown car is definitely larger. The windshield is of a wider size and shape is different. The wrap-around curvature and the A pillar are not the same. The A pillar is seen quite clearly and there is little chance these are based on the same cars. |

Le mystère de cette voiture n'est toujours pas résolu. |

I would say this is a 1956 De Soto Diplomat, but I couldn't find a matching colour schem yet. |

The highlight has been displaced on the 403! About the unknown car… nothing to do with a Ford Fairlane? |

Some frames later the cars are about the same size. In the main picture the distortion of the wide angle lens makes the Simca much smaller, I think. -- Last edit: 2013-09-20 11:42:09 |

Bien vu, Alessandro. On se retrouve donc à chercher une voiture européenne. Opel ? |

I strongly think about a UK Ford Consul Mk II with an after market and not original two-tone paint scheme influenced by US cars. -- Last edit: 2013-09-20 13:23:58 |

I think I vote Simca - in the resized photo the cabins are identical. I can see why Consul mk2 appeals, but much smaller front sidelights, no natural body trim to define the colour split (although Belgian assembled Consuls had unique side trim, I don't think this matches but have lost my reference), and I think the boot/fins here are too flat/pointy. |

Looking better I think dsl is right. |

Front of the car still not matching at all in the resized picture with a Simca Vedette! |
