Episode 5.4, "Ricky Sells the Car," is about how Ricky chooses to sell the Pontiac he, Lucy, Fred and Ethel used to drive to California. This leaves Fred and Ethel thinking they're stranded so Fred buys this motorcycle. They show it off briefly before wrecking it off camera. I don't know the year or model but a Lucy fansite says it's a Harley. And it was already old when this episode first aired in the Fall of 1955. |

I first thought this was a WW2 era WL model but some details didn't match. I think it is a Model DL 750cc from about 1929. Needs an expert to confirm. http://motorbike-search-engine.co.uk/classic_bikes/harley_davidson_29dl.jpg -- Last edit: 2009-08-25 22:56:51 |

I know this is an old post but correction where needed. This is not a Harley Davidson. It is a late 1930's Japanese Kurogane Type 95. Brief history - Harley Davidson assisted with motorcycle development in Japan in the early 30's. The Japanese added and improved upon the design going forward. As Japan drives on the opposite side of the road al la England the sidecar is mounted to the left of the motorcycle. |

The type 95 was a scout car, this is a type 97. Kurogane was the parent company, the bikes were known as Rikuo. |
