F-150, too small to be a F-250 too big to be a F-100 |

Trucks were smaller back in the day unlike today's huge behemoths. I do think that's a F-250 because there was no F-150. It was a F-100 1/2 ton pickup and those had small car-like wheels. The F-250 would be a reasonable choice since it was a 3/4 ton pickup which could most likely handle a camper and haul a trailer. |

This truck is DEFINITELY an F-250 as there was no F-150 manufactured in '73 to '76. The F-100 was the half ton and it would've been insufficient to carry a camper of this size and weight, This camper top probably has a small kitchen (galley) with a propane stove and refrigerator and that would've been too much for an F-100 pickup to carry whether it was 2 or 4 wheel drive, I know this truck is a '73 but I have an owner's manual for '76 Ford pickups F-100 to F-350, And in the section that deals with slide-in camper installation, There's a warning that says: Ford recommends that passengers be carried ONLY in the cab of the truck, Slide-in campers should NOT be occupied while the truck is in motion, I think this scene where the truck crashes into the Illinois State Police Dodge Monaco cruiser proves that to a tee!!! |

Remember, fleetwood75, the F-150 was introduced in 1975 model year for heavier weight class to circumvent the emissions requirement that was sold in F-100 series. |

I was expecting the truck to hit the police car instead. |
