In November 1969 they started to assembly Renault cars in the Ljubljana factory TZL (Titovi Zavodi Litostroj). The first year it was only the R4 sedan and van, the R6, R8, R10 and R16. Next year production of the R12 sedan and wagon was begun (so I guess model year 1971). In January 1973, after over 20.000 cars built, production was moved to IMV (Industrija Motornih Vozil)in Novo Mesto, with only R4, R12 and a few R16. Beginning of 1976 the production of R12 and R16 was dropped and the R4 was the only model left, until the R18 came in 1979. Later they also built Super 5, Clio, and since 2007 the 2nd gen Twingo. AFAIK they didn't differ from French built Renaults. |

As a curiosity it is maybe worth to mention that Dacia 1300 was also offered there and even before the 1976. http://www.avto-magazin.si/avtomobilski-testi/dacia_1300-9816.aspx But car here is of course a R12, by the badge. Edit: IMV/Revoz claims it assembled R12 in the years 1974-77 (only/mostly as TL judging by the "Avto Magazin"), but seems they could complelty ignored the TZL assembly times... On the other hand, as it is car without side repeaters and parts were imported form France, it is more the one of the IMV era - so 1974-76 (seems orange indicatros were required in YU). -- Last edit: 2012-05-31 20:41:33 |
