It looks like it says SAAB on the back but it doesn't look like any Saab I've ever seen! -- Last edit: 2009-05-27 23:38:05 |

Saab Sonett III ? |

Indeed a Sonett III. Seems to have the US sidemarker, the bumpers can't be seen here so 1970+ -- Last edit: 2009-05-27 23:40:36 |

Wow, a lucky find! All the other cars in this film seem to be generic early-70s American cars. -- Last edit: 2009-05-27 23:44:44 |

Have you kept an eye on European cars? they usually pop up in this movies. |
◊ 2009-05-27 23:46 |
Yes, you see things like Beetles often but from watching films like this it seems like European cars were rarer in American back then then they are today, likewise in post-war Britian most of the cars seemed to be British. -- Last edit: 2009-05-27 23:47:18 |

I think the 1973 Chevrolet Impala on the right should be listed. |

State of Connecticut is the headquarter of SAAB of USA and that is why we see a lots of SAAB in Connecticut and Boston, Massachusetts. |

But they only made about 8000 of these. |

Nice find. |

Indeed, it is 1973 Chevrolet Impala Custom. Worth a page of own? |

I used to have a '73 Chevy Caprice Classic that looked just like that one! |

It does not seem to have the gas struts for the rear hatch, so that makes it a 1970-1972 Sonett III. The color looks like 1972-1973 Midnight Blue http://jpowell.tripod.com/saab-97/#color So the car in the movie must be a 1972 (like mine...), makes sense as the movie was from 1973. -- Last edit: 2009-10-31 01:22:11 |

What was used to hold up the hatch before the gas struts? |

A steel rod. |
