auto doug ◊ 2011-02-04 04:51	Your right the burning one is a stand in it was built in a few weeks time, It was just a blue 68 coupe that was pretty worn out! we built to duplicate to the real 68 Shelby GT 350 convertible that Viggo drove in the movie. I helped build the car at my body shop in Lincoln, Ne. It was a lot of fun & stress due to the time line we had to work with. The deck lid however was an original Shelby one that was badly damaged but I fixed it to look good enough, lots of aftermarket Shelby pieces installed prepped then painted, assembled it etc. only had to last about 20 seconds on film I think we pulled it off pretty good I remember one of the guys from the film crew saying it was one of the better prop cars he has ever seen! I have some pictures of building it and the two cars side by side, from a distance it is hard to tell them apart. I was also there the night of filming when they burnt the car just about 50 yards away, got to meet Viggo, Sean Penn, and some of the film crew it was a long night glad they had the snack cart full, the shots of it burning are under an old bridge in downtown Omaha.
