![]() Both 181 are former army-versions from the Bundeswehr. The NATO-olive-coloured is quite original -it has a license-plate for historic cars- and the light cream one is repainted (overpainted door-handles). The extra lamp on the bumper is a back foglamp. -- Last edit: 2009-03-15 10:43:55 |

Then what about the front turn signal/parking/sidemarker lamp assembly ![]() |

We have turn signals in Europe. ![]() |

What shall be with them ![]() Here the turn signal-house is unoriginal, because it's a chrome-version, which the army-version never had. These parts are identical with the pre-1975 Typ 1-turnsignals. The civil ones are chromated, the Bundeswehr-version was painted. btw.: The 181 and the European Typ 1 had only the turn signal in this (chromated or painted) house on the fender. Parking-lights or sidemarkers weren't available. The European parking-light-system (for VW's after 1973/74 until now) works, when you use the turn signal-switch, when the car is parking. But then the left or right side of the front and back lamps are burning, not the turn signals. |

P.S. The turn signal on the front fender of the light beige 181 looks, like it fits not correctly. Anyways, perhaps they haven't mounted it not correctly. Or they have used something else, perhaps the bit bigger US-version. The top of the front 181-fender is just flat, so you can mount any turn signal-house, you want to have. |
