Looks like a Mid-1950's Pontiac to me.

According to my info, body style M73B, but I see that here "Chassis/code names found for Mercury" /vehicles_make-Mercury.html it would be only 73B

Checking again the pic and the thumbnail I think fellow 'turbobanana ' was right. Now I also think it's a Ford, but 1953.
1952&53 Mercury had a cromed in the top of the hood, and the car of the pic hasn't. See the 1953 Mercury Custom in this pic
[Image: 152990-Mercury1953.JPG]
or see these examples in this site: 1952 Mercury Custom /vehicle_11778-Mercury-Custom-1952.html and 1953 Mercury Custom /vehicle_78262-Mercury-Custom-1953.html
And here the car of the main pic of this page [Image: 152991-Mercury1953_2.JPG]
The 1952 Ford of 'turbobanana' (see his link) has additionals headlights in the grille but doesn't the car of the pic as really had 1953 Fords.
Customline 1953 had a cromed bar from the side front to the end of the first door and wide cromed before rear wheel, and hadn't the car of the pic
[Image: 152992-1953 Ford-03.jpg]
So, finishing, I think now it could be a 1953 Ford Mainline
[Image: 152993-1953 Ford-02.jpg]
Well a (Tudor Sedan) [70A], or a (Fordor Sedan) [73A]

Yes, the car on the left is a 1953 Ford, but I guess it is the star of the movie: /vehicle_214506-Ford-Mainline-73A-1953.html
The car on the right is a 1953 Mercury ;)

I didn't see this answer before. All my previous investigation  . At least I have learned something by myself :)

Well at least I've learned something: "look carefully what you are answering". Well I didn't pay attention that this page is for the background Mercury, at least I have learned (also) more about 1953 Fords. Thanks.
