Mercury Park Lane |

I think this is the episode with Inger Stevens traveling cross country and constantly seeing the same hitch hiker. Boy she was a beauty. |

I remember this episode as one of my favorites. |

If this is a 4 door hardtop, the full title should be 1959 Mercury Park Lane Cruiser [57C]. Here is a page from one of the brochures: http://oldcarbrochures.com/main.php?g2_itemId=56713 -- Last edit: 2009-03-24 08:45:11 |

From the badge on the front fender in the video below it appears to be either a Monterey (57A) or Montclair (57B) four-door hardtop. Note the windshield and front vent windows have been removed to avoid reflections. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rfIyOWrkeho |

This is definitely a Montclair. I have the complete TZ collection and carefully checked all the close ups frame by frame. Could just read the nameplate on the left front fender in one scene. Also, the Park Lane has a different looking panel in the fender "coves". This car is wonderfully showcased in the episode and is a must-see for fans of this make and year! |

I agree, this is not a park lane: two differences with the brochure image in 58Roadmaster's link: no ribbed quarter panel on this one, and a longer spear in the side trim. |

I agree with Crown 85 and Ray B. comments, specially because Park Lane had chrome from rear wheel to the end side of the car. I think it's a 4 door (I guess 2 handles per side) but, is it a 4-door sedan (pillared) or a 4-door Cruiser Hardtop? |

It is a 4-door hardtop - no "B" pillar, per full viewing of the episode. Here is a link to the ep on Veoh: Link to "www.veoh.com" -- Last edit: 2009-08-14 21:30:00 |

Inger Stevens...... Aaaaah... what a gorgeous woman she was.... troubled beyond words in her personal life, took her own life in the summer of 1967. She was at the top of her form in this episode... One of my all time favorites... "The Hitch Hiker"..... The Golden Age of Television for sure. |

The car is not a Parklane. The Parklane has a chrome gunsight on each front fender. The above car does not have them. I have 2 1959 Parklane 4DHT Crusiers. Tried to post picture. -- Last edit: 2013-01-26 03:54:27 |

So now we know for sure...it's a Montclair, and a four door hardtop. I'm surprised people don't add extra photos of some of these cars more often, this one would've ended a lot of debate. |
◊ 2013-03-28 13:27 |
Well, you can tell from the main photo it's a hardtop. |
◊ 2013-03-28 13:33 |
The original main photo is the first thumbnail, and some were debating whether it was two-door or four-door because they couldn't tell. My point was, no one ever pulled any more images. |

True. But you have. They are nice additions and we thank you. |

Why do they took away the front vent windows ? (Look at most of the thimbnails pictures in this page). |
◊ 2014-06-20 22:11 |
Apparently, they removed those windows to prevent studio lights reflection ![]() |
