I can convince myself this is local build Minx Phase V, but it seems larger, and the little shield on the grille lip doesn't match what Ryton did - a local quirk by Todd Motors, or is Minx idea wrong??

Green thing on right beside shed is local build Standard 8 or 10.

:king: Very interesting suggestion - opened up a strand about Rootes-jewels which I'd never realised. Seems Todd Motors built the sequence of early 50s Minxes pretty much the same as Ryton did in UK, but they added a parallel sequence of Humber Tens (possibly as a device to get more import licences as a unique-for-NZ variation), presumably with upgrades and trim tweaks (grilles, better interior etc). These continued until the early Audax Minx, by when it had become Humber 80.

Here's a 1949 Humber Ten (= Minx Phase III)

.... and a 1953 Humber Ten (= Minx Phase VI?)

... and a 1956 Humber 80 (listed as Phase VIII, which matches the Minx numbering)

I think we've got a 1949 Phase IV here - basically just a Phase III with sidelights, bigger bumpers and better engine - or a 1951 Phase V which was not much of a revamp. Explains the shield in the grille surround and why it looks very Minxy, but not quite exact Minx.
