Strange number plate.? |

I does look strange. It could be of the first period (1903-30) with 2 letters and 4 digits. But the shape of the types looks wrong. And was there ever an area with registration code 'OO'? Info for all non British readers: 1: Numberplates can be passed onto a newer vehicle and can even be sold. 2: The two letters (on later plates the last two of the three letters) say in which area this licence plate was first issued. 3: The plate is not a document (unlike e.g. in Germany). Until fairly recently the rules on how the letters have to look were treated quite liberally. |

Essex registration - dates it as 1961 or 1962. There are plenty of anomalies in the UK registration system. one star |

I am the owner of the above Thames Trader. First registered in Dagenham in 1961 - the numberplate is original to the vehicle. It was first owned by Great Hayes Farms, Essex and spent all its working life there. It was then stored in a barn for 17 years until I acquired it in June 1999. Carried out the restoration myself over 12 months. Now attend rallys and shows most weekends through the summer. |
