Why no arguing one way or another? This is without doubt a 740 or a 760. That is evident from the chromed strip beneath the window. (1988+ 760, 1990+ 740 and 1991+ 940 and 960 didn't have that.) But which one and what year? After having lived with these cars for 30 years, I'd argue that: - That plastic side strip was standard fittings on the 760 until 1987, the 740 Turbo 1986 and 1987, and the 740 GLE 1986+. And other ways available as optional extra. - The 760 up to 1984 had different door mirrors and painted ones 1986+, but always a shiny bit (s/s) on the door handles. - The 740 GLE had door handle s/s inlays from 1988. - The 740 Turbo usually came with solid colours while that 740 GLE usually had metallic paint. Because of that I find it most likely it's a 1986-87 Volvo 740 GLE (or less likely a 740 GL with the plastic strip and metallic paint bought as optional extra).
