This one is incredibly confusing but albeit quite a welcomed find here because these Telstars simply don't exist anymore both in Indonesia and Australia. Locally assembled and made for RI. From local research, this car is either an 83-85 [AR] "Telstar Ghia" or an 85-87 [AS] "TX5 Ghia" That badge length is enough to spell out "TELSTAR", the little one next to it is the engine capacity badge, and the smallest one there probably is the Ghia badge, but this one also has hubcaps from an 85-87 only Indonesian spec "TX5 Ghia" which would possibly just be a hackjob considering that one of the plastic mouldings are gone. In conclusion, this is an 83-85 Ford Telstar [AR] Ghia. -- Last edit: 2025-09-14 09:37:11 |

This IS a pre-facelift Telstar TX5, watch your guesses vs. what was already listed here. Yes, liftbacks were called the Telstar TX5, and that's the way we normally list them here. And yes, only the Ghia trim was ever sold here. Made for RI as specifications may be differed than those sold in Japan and Australia. Not sure about the local assembly part, Wikipedia didn't list Indonesia as one of its assembly locations, can you provide a source? And yes, pre-facelift were [AR], Mobil Motor Lama incorrectly refers the liftback uses [AS] but in reality, [AS] only applies to the facelifted models (both sedan and liftback configs). |

I might've misread the local assembly part, sorry. The hatchback model of this car is quite confusing since there's not a lot of photos of them in the internet for the rear shot and the local populace seemingly just vanished. I was enticed to say that this was an 85-87 [AS] TX5 Ghia because of the hubcaps but that badge length made me doubt. Link to "www.facebook.com" -- Last edit: 2025-09-14 10:01:59 |
