Something Euro? Like a Peugeot side of Euro? the fuel filler cap is right side which is more a European scene, than Japanese or Korean stuff. |

Subarus all have the filler on the right hand side (for some reason). My first thought was a Subaru Liberty/Outback, but a few things aren't really lining up. -- Last edit: 2025-07-24 10:41:07 |

I don't think so, the tailights, windows profile, etc. don't match at all. Im with @Z2, my first thought was a restyled Subaru Tribeca, but also doesn't seem to match... |

Could it be an Opel Astra J Station Wagon? ![]() It is the most similar match I have thought about... they were sold in Australia, right? |
|
◊ 2025-07-24 11:43 |
Nope mate... This place don't match |
|
◊ 2025-07-24 11:48 |
This could be a Outback (BR) |
|
◊ 2025-07-24 12:34 |
Could be, but the Outback's fuel cap was squared, while this one is round... |
|
◊ 2025-07-24 13:02 |
Guys,I've nearly searched every made for Aus or Aus origin wagons, but didn't find anything that matches. Probably it is a LHD car which was changed to RHD or some kind of grey import. -- Last edit: 2025-07-24 13:03:55 |

Just checked both clips again, but nothing more to pull out for big clues. This shows CHMSL on tailgate and slight rear window glimpse I wondered if something small and Korean, but no idea what .... |

Somehow i'm not that surprised.. ![]() |
|
◊ 2025-07-24 19:50 |
But again, the fuel cap is squared in the F11 and at the middle of the crease, not below the crease and round as in the picture |

What about Passat B7 or a Rover 75? ![]() |
|
◊ 2025-07-24 20:24 |
Not Rover 75 - third window is too diddy and 75 had level belt-line. And I still think this is a smallish thing, maybe Korean ..... |

For me, it's 2012+ Holden Cruze Sportwagon [JH]. Origin: South Korea. Made for AUS. /vehicle_1015901-Holden-Cruze-Sportwagon-JH-2012.html Link to "storage.googleapis.com" -- Last edit: 2025-07-24 23:50:14 |

I was thinkning about a Subaru Outback (2015+ model have round fuel filler), but third side glass doesn't seem to coincide: https://www.motoringresearch.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/04_Subaru_outback.jpg Cruze Sportwagon has wraparound rear glass (like the Astra J) and different shaped taillights to me not a Passat B7 too: https://www.cars-directory.net/pics_specs/car/volkswagen/passat/1795/2_big.jpg |

Is this the rim,if it is maybe we can try to find a similar one |
|

My searching has also led me to the Holden Cruze JH Wagon (2012–2016) but I don't know if its correct. Here is my full list (using ChatGPT and these images and some back and forth) that I have looked at and tried to rule out. Could also be worht someone else checking! Strongest Matches (Based on All Your Criteria) These were the most likely candidates after refining with fuel filler side, split tail lights, body style, and vibe. Holden Cruze JH Wagon (2012–2016) Opel Astra J Sports Tourer (2010–2015) – same platform as Cruze JH Volkswagen Golf Mk6 Wagon (2009–2013) Audi A4 Avant B7 (2005–2008) – "vibe match" but ruled out SEAT Exeo ST (2009–2013) – VW styling, Audi-based ⚠️ Considered but Ruled Out (too big, wrong filler side, or tail light shape) These were explored but eliminated based on specific feedback from you. SUVs & Crossovers: Mazda CX-9 (1st gen) – left-side filler Toyota Kluger (XU40) – left-side filler Hyundai Santa Fe (CM) – left-side filler Ford Territory – wrong shape and rear treatment Subaru Forester SH – no split tail lights Renault Koleos (1st gen) Peugeot 3008 (1st gen) Volkswagen Tiguan (1st gen) Holden Captiva 5 / Chevrolet Captiva – ruled out SsangYong Stavic / Rodius – wildcard, very odd proportions Wagons: Volkswagen Passat Wagon (B6/B7) – ruled out by you Skoda Octavia Wagon (Mk2) Holden Commodore VE Sportwagon Opel Vectra ZC Wagon (2003–2005) Saab 9-3 SportCombi (2005–2011) – tail lights too tall Volvo V50 (2004–2012) – tail light shape didn’t match Alfa Romeo 159 Sportwagon – lights too small Peugeot 407 Touring (2004–2011) – lights too large Ford Mondeo Wagon – left-side filler Mazda6 Wagon – tail lights not split Subaru Liberty/Outback – no tailgate-mounted lights BMW X3 / X1 / 3 Series Touring – generally left-side filler or wraparound glass Audi A4 Avant B6 – like B7, ruled out Holden Zafira (Opel Zafira B) – maybe too old or MPV-like Hyundai iX35 / Tucson (2nd gen) – more SUV than wagon |

Here's the tailgate for a 2010-2014 Outback [BR]: It has the right cutout shapes for the reverse lights and the CHMSL... but again, they had a square fuel filler. 2015-2019 Outback [BS] had a round fuel filler, but the reverse light cutouts are different: Is it possible to stick a [BR] tailgate on a [BS]?? Is this seam actually mismatched or just deformed from the fire?? -- Last edit: 2025-07-27 23:50:20 |

Did Outbacks have sunroofs?? I've no idea, but thought I'd ask. If you're suggesting BS because of the round filler, I don't think the rear light matches as the BS forward end finishes in a soft point which feeds directly into the body side crease - compare. The BR is more rounded and ducks under the crease, which looks more like what the wreck has, but has the filler shape problem already mentioned. I also have problems marrying either the BR or the BS tailgate shapes as both have a protruding corner on top of the rear lights, which I don't see on the wreck which to me looks straighter with only a slight change of line. Am not really familiar with either variety of Outback, so these are comments rather than statements. If it is an Outback - and other details such as quarterlights in rear doors look very similar - my guess is BR, where the filler is not precisely square and just might match what can be seen on the wreck. |

Sorry about this long message ! I agree with @CougarTim that the tailgate looks like the BR's one. Then, @dsl, both BS and BR had sunroofs. This one is from a BR: This one is from a BS: Now, given your theory @CougarTim, it would make a lot of sense. In fact, the sharper crease above the filler cap looks more like the one on the BS than the one on the BR: But, it is true that the rest of the body matches more the BR than the BS, and even the side profile looks less angled than the BS (see the picture). Could it be an optical effect? Or else, could it be that it is simply a BR Outback with a round cut around the fuel cap, to disguise its shape? |
|
◊ 2025-07-28 12:57 |
I think the third side glass too looks more the one of the BR. I believe the only thing that doesn't coincide is the fuel cap. I really don't think it can be anything else than a Subaru too anyway are we excluding regular Legacy/Liberty Wagon? https://s1.cdn.autoevolution.com/images/gallery/SUBARU-Legacy-Wagon-4013_70.jpgMaybe really the fuel cap shape is an optical effect? |
|
◊ 2025-07-28 13:04 |
I also thought about the Liberty, but it didn't have roof racks, which this one has! Also, the fuel filler cap is the same of the Outback. So, yes, it could be an optical effect, or an artifficial cut? |
|
◊ 2025-07-28 13:23 |
Yes, indeed, I thought roof racks were available also on the Legacy Wagon but I'm not finding any with them. |
|
◊ 2025-07-29 00:52 |
Zooming in closer, I now agree with dsl and Bux_48. I think it is fully a [BR], and the apparent fuel filler shape is just an effect of the damage and the image quality. |

So, sold to Outback [BR]? ![]() |
