Absolutely, for vehicles registered in Sweden prior to 1998 this recently made up term `Fordonsår´ always equals modelyear. But from modelyear 1998 and onwards the authorities didn´t give that info anymore, instead there was info about when the vehicle was built. That info is mostly based on when the vehicle happens to enter into the registry since supposed building month and entry in regsitry corresponds a little to often especially on cars coming from very distant countries.
