If EXN 801 (or similar), London, March-April 38. I'll kick it off by cautiously suggesting baby Vauxhall - maybe 10/4?? - but the Grand Council of Wise Experts on Old Things may wish to disagree. Which is OK - that's why Grand Councils of Experts exist. |

Sorry to disagree, and I don’t know if I qualify for the grand council, except by dint of being old, but I think it’s a 1938 Standard Flying Ten. The position of the headlights is the reason for this suggestion, on the Vauxhall they sprout from either side of the grille and are smaller, higher, and closer together. The Standard has them mounted a bit lower on the front wings and sprouting uphill. Also, squint though I may, I cannot detect any Vauxhall flutes, and, finally, it seems to be fitted with the 1938+ Standard waterfall grille, the Vauxhall grille had vertical bars until the 1946 facelift. /vehicle_762610-Vauxhall-10-4-H-1938.html (Non standard grille, hee-hee couldn’t resist the pun!) /vehicle_1786082-Standard-Flying-Ten-10BL-1938.html Are you convinced? -- Last edit: 2025-06-10 14:47:47 |
