New York City Department of Sanitation (DSNY) trucks of the 1940s: https://www.classicrefusetrucks.com/albums/albumpool2/DS.html It's a fascinating read, if you're into that kind of thing. In 1937 DSNY designed their own style of body for refuse collection and contracted Gar Wood and Heil to build them. Gar Wood used GMC trucks, and Heil used Autocar.
