Surprisingly, Japanese WMIs are also used for Aygos as well. This is truly unusual, as the practice of using WMIs from the manufacturer's country of origin abroad usually only applies to European ones ('W' VINs on Mexican Q5s and South African C-Classes/3-Series.) No other Japanese brand does this, and I previously thought it was likely due to some regulatory laws from Japan, but obviously that is not the case. I've always been somewhat fascinated by VINs and WMI, particularly in how they vary throughout the world. |
