BSA A65. Probably uprated to 750cc. Up to 1969 the British bikes were limited to 500cc so that the side valve 750 Harleys had a chance. From 1970 all bikes were allowed to be 750s so bikes such as the Yamaha 650 XS1 and the Norton 750 were also seen. |

Good point to recall this to us. So, the BSA must have kept its original capacity: as far as I remember (I remmber well, I can say it now that I have checked!), On Any Sunday tells Mert Lawwill's quest (and reach) for the AMA supreme title, and all this happens in 1969. Brom-hum, speaking with haste… Maybe the movie is (partially) about the loss of the n°1 plate by Mert Lawwill, since I see many pictures of his racing bikes sporting the n°1. Or was the documentary material spanning two seasons, 1969 and 1970? I surely should have a look at this movie again. After all, I saw it only once, when it reached my small country town, 10 miles from my village, spring of 1974. -- Last edit: 2016-02-02 04:00:08 |
