Oops - foot in mouth disease time for me again... Our local expert pointed out that this cannot be an R-6 since the R-6 was the first Landy on which the grille was moved forward (like on the later Defenders) to accommodate the longer straight six engine. This is probably then a good old two-and-a-quarter. Sorry ![]() |

The R6 didn't use the Rover 2600 from the SD1, it used a 2.6 litre version of the BL 'E' series engine that was unique to South Africa and Austrailia and was found in such diverse cars as the Leyland P76 and Marina. In the UK and Europe the only 6 cylinder E series we got was the 2.2 fitted to the Landcrab and Wedge Princess. |
