LS I guess ... ? |

Most of them were the base models, so unless you can tell it is an LS by a certain detail, then no probably not. |

Okay, I was wrong. It appears that from the start, both the LS and the base's rear license plate bracket was unpainted metal. The change was indeed for the 2001 MY as I can't find any 2000s with this rear license plate holder. Here's a June 2000 build still with the metal bracket: https://www.copart.com/lot/50454428 A July 2000 build base 2001 Impala still has the old skirt, but another base from August '00 is already equipped with the new one, so the change was probably in August 2000. I found an August 2000 LS with the old skirt and another built the same month with the new skirt, so the changeover date for that is pretty clear. The first was built August 11, 2000, the second one eleven days later. This one is so freaky I had to post it: 2001 Impala built January 2002?? https://www.copart.com/lot/41952307 -- Last edit: 2019-08-13 20:32:37 |

I'm missing something here clearly because as far as I can tell Gamer's 2015 comment still stands. This has the plastic trim, maybe not hugely obvious due to the colour but it's there. |

Ah, I didn't explain. I have memories that somehow the plastic bumper change was debunked, but I could be mistaken. So I re-researched the subject. Guess I was too excited to post a backstory, silly me. ![]() Most probably I didn't take the LS into account the first time. But now it's all matching up. -- Last edit: 2019-08-13 20:43:52 |

That is a 2002 model by the VIN. The 10th digit is a 2 indicating 2002. I ran the VIN on autocheck just to safe: 2002 Chevrolet Impala VIN: 2G1WF55E129258054 Style / Body: Sedan 4DEngine: 3.4L V6 SFI Country of Assembly: Canada Merged ![]() ![]() -- Last edit: 2021-07-10 10:45:05 |
